All contract renewal talks have been put on hold at Oriel Park for the foreseeable future, manager Vinny Perth has revealed.
With a large number of the squad out of contract at the end of the 2020 season, Perth had hoped to begin negotiations with key players to tie some of them down following the closure of the transfer window last month. Amongst those whose deals are up at the end of this year include Sean Gannon, Michael Duffy, Brian Gartland, Gary Rogers, Jordan Flores, Sean Murray, Sean Hoare, Georgie Kelly, Aaron McCarey, Daniel Kelly, Lido Lotefa, Dane Massey and John Mountney.
With much work to be done to ensure those Perth wants around next year remain, he had hoped to get a head start on things by beginning talks similar to those which saw Chris Shields pen a new contract in February.
Unfortunately, Perth revealed that all such negotiations were now on hold until the football season returned at least.
“All of that stuff has to go on hold to be fair for the next few weeks until we see where we are,” he said.
“Once we’re back up and running then we can look at that stuff but we don’t know what the future holds from a football point of view just yet.
“All of that stuff has to wait so all we can do is see it out at the minute,” he said.
