An emotional John Gill vowed to celebrate Dundalk’s title success properly as he looks ahead to picking up his first Premier Division winner’s medal next month.

The 55-year-old was in charge of the Lilywhites when he led them out of the First Division in 2008 but failed to celebrate that memorable win at Station Road as he knew the writing was on the wall for him in terms of his job.

Now back as part of Vinny Perth’s managerial setup, Gill couldn’t hide his delight at proving the doubters wrong and praised the entire playing staff and backroom team for their role in retaining the title. For Gill and co, the best may be yet to come though.
