Dundalk head coach Vinny Perth says he never entertained allowing his assistant Ruaidhrí Higgins leave the club.

It emerged last week that Coleraine had approached the Lilywhites for permission to speak to the 34-year-old about the vacant job at The Showgrounds.

This approach was rejected by Dundalk.

Asked about this on Monday evening, Perth said: “They requested permission to speak to him and we obviously turned it down.

“Ruaidhrí is under contract and he’s ours so it’s not something I entertained.

“We moved on from it fairly quickly. We turned down permission and that was the end of it. He’s very happy where he is,” said Perth.
