Widespread praise for club’s streaming service as WATCHLOI is to return

Dundalk FC received widespread praise for the quality of their live stream during Friday’s pre-season friendly against Bohemians.

The club enlisted the services of Dublin-based media firm ODAV for what was a fantastic production with pre-match build-up, half-time analysis, multiple camera angles, replays, local business adverts and commentary from LMFM’s Adrian Taaffe and his co-commentator for the day, Irish international Stephanie Roche.

Sadly, it may be Europe before such a production can be reproduced following the announcement last week hat the WATCHLOI service will return.

It is set to show the President’s Cup match between Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk in Tallaght Stadium as a free-to-air production on Friday March 12th at 7.45pm.

RTÉ and the FAI have now committed to showing 60+ matches on the service up until the mid-season break in June when it will be reviewed. The half-season pass is likely to cost supporters €59 or you will once again be able to pay on a game-by-game basis at a cost of €5 per fixture.

The FAI have committed to a €55,000 marketing budget for the project and have set a 15% target for increasing sales on last year.

As RTÉ will have the pick of matches to televise, they are covering the production costs. Profits will be shared among Premier clubs, forecasted at an average of €5,172 from an overall return of €86,465. The final divvy will be determined by the portion of subscribers associated with each club.

Unlike last season, this year co-commentators and improved graphics have been promised while a €55,000 marketing budget has been committed to improve sign-ups.

RTÉ have also announced the first three live matches to be shown on television this season. Friday Night Football coverage commences with the SSE Airtricity Premier Division game between Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday March 19th, followed by Waterford v Sligo Rovers on Friday March 26th and Dundalk’s league game with Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght on April 2nd.

Meanwhile, Dundalk FC have announced a new a new three-year partnership with local digital advertising agency and product development company The Unit.

The collaboration will see The Unit work closely with Dundalk FC in the areas of commercial activity, marketing, and brand positioning in a bid to maximise growth opportunities and explore new revenue streams for the club.

A statement from the club said: “The Unit will take a proactive approach to identify, secure, and support club partners and sponsors, as well as developing and strengthening links with the local business community.”
