Another clean sheet
Dundalk goalkeeper Gary Rogers kept his 21st clean sheet in the league this season away to Waterford FC. That represents his best ever return in a season for the club and equals the 21 managed by Richie Blackmore in 1979/80. Rogers is now aiming to break a club and league record by surpassing the 23 clean sheets kept by Alan O’Neill when Dundalk won the league in 1991.
20th career goal for Kelly
Daniel Kelly’s strike against Waterford on Friday night was the 20th goal of his career. He now has 12 in all competitions in his debut season for Dundalk with his winner on Friday helping the side go 12 points clear at the top of the table. Six of his 12 goals have now come against Waterford. It was also the 40th game of his debut season at Dundalk on Friday.
Robbie Benson made the 275th start of his career on Friday night. He had made his debut at the RSC for Athlone Town on October 3rd 2008 as a 77th minute sub for David O’Dowd. It later turned out he was ineligible and despite the game finishing 0-0, Waterford were awarded 3-0 win with Benson’s appearance expunged.
Another Hoban assist
Patrick Hoban’s assist for Daniel Kelly’s goal on Friday night was his 11th of the season. He has now been involved in 30 goals for Dundalk in all competitions this season – more than any other player.
